Five Tips To Make The Most of Your Health Club Routines

Here are 5 tips that can help you get the most out of the time you spend at the gym.

Are you worried that you aren’t getting the most out of your health club fitness routines?   Many of us find a workout that we enjoy or that is convenient, but after a couple of months we start seeing fewer results because we are using the same muscle groups and not challenging ourselves. Changing things up can bring amazing results!  Here are 5 tips that can help you get the most out of the time you spend at the gym.

1. Change the Mode or Intensity of Your Training
If you change the kind of exercises you do and vary the intensity, you can avoid hitting those dreaded plateaus. Your body will be challenged to adapt to new movements and new intensity requirements. Have fun and be creative!   Consider working with a personal trainer for a few weeks.  A trainer will design and coach you through routines that will address your specific needs. A trainer will also ensure you are getting a balanced workout.

2. Eat Properly and Stay Hydrated
You need to fuel your engine to get the most out of your workout. Your body burns a lot of fuel when you are working out.  It then needs nutrients to build muscle and repair damaged tissue. Don’t starve your muscles before or after a workout!  Also be sure to get an appropriate amount of hydration so you are not dehydrated before, during, or after your health club workouts.  Our studio services can help you find ways to meet your fitness goals!

3. Emphasize Quality over Quantity
You don’t have to work out more often to get better results.  In fact, more intense workouts performed less often can produce greater results.  Your body needs rest and recovery time to repair damaged muscle tissue between each workout.  Consider incorporating some mind-body fitness activities such as yoga or tai chi, both of which have been associated with benefits such as improved muscular strength, flexibility, balance and coordination.

4. Get a Health Club Workout Partner
Being accountable to a workout partner can help ensure you show up for your workout even when you might be feeling a bit under the weather or under stress. This simple social prod can be a great motivator. You may also fall into a natural competition with your exercise partner, resulting in each of you pushing yourselves to achieve better results!

5. Exercise at the Right Time for your Body
We each have a favorite time to exercise – when we feel like we are working with our body’s natural energy level rather than against it. Often, we get trapped into exercising when our schedule allows and it feels like a chore. Make an effort to find the time of day when you have the most energy and can put in the best workout.
