Vote Today on S. Huntington Library Budget

Balloting open from 3 to 9 p.m.

Voters will cast ballots Tuesday on the South Huntington Public Library budget.

Balloting is from 3 to 9 p.m. at the library.

The $5,750,401 budget includes a tax increase of 1.7 percent, or $12.64 on a property assessed at $3,300. That means an average library tax bill of $425.04 and is an increase from this year's budget of $5,653,503.

Also on the ballot will be the election of one trustee, Pat Dillon, who is running unopposed for re-election to a five-year term. Dillon is a volunteer with South Huntington schools and a librarian in the Huntington school district.

Kids are also invited to have fun the day of the budget vote with their own election. This is the 50th anniversary of the Caldecott Medal-winning classic, Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

From 3-8 p.m., kids can vote for their favorite wild thing in children's books and get their picture taken among the wild things. A kids raffle, craft projects and other activities are also planned.

The Huntington Public Library vote is next week.
