Town Plans HART Changes

New plans would add service but cut two other feeder routes.

The town said Monday that is planning route changes in its Huntington Area Rapid Transit service.

The service, established in 1978, would add 20.5 miles of service and a fourth line, but eliminate two weekday peak-rail feeder routes that have lost most of their ridership. Service to all other major facilities will continue, the town said.

The changes would take effect in January. Buses wouldl run more frequently than under current schedules, and is designed to require fewer transfers. The Town hopes that these changes will encourage more people to use HART, the only Town-operated bus system on Long Island.

The changes are the result of review conducted by consultants Abrams-Cherwony & Associates.

The town will discuss the changes at meetings Saturday at the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington and on Nov. 3 at the East Northport Public Library. Both meetings will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon. HART will be running more frequent service on those days to make it more convenient for residents to attend.

The new routes can also be viewed on the town’s website.

Separately, the town is considering fare increases.

I would love to become part of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. However, for a new business itRead More is costly and may not fit into every new business owners budget. May I suggest a provisional 1-year membership at a reduced cost. Once successful the provisional members can give back by supporting other new members.

Do they have the metal inside that held the glass bottles? Are they different sizes? It's hard toRead More tell from the pic. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 but, I wouldn't be able to pay 40.00 each. 20-25 each I can do. Thanks, Karen
