Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone will urge Long Islanders to prepare for the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which starts Saturday.

A press press conference is planned at Farmingdale State College Friday at 11 a.m. and the leaders will be joined by members of the American Red Cross.

They plan to discuss steps residents should take now to prepare their families. The Red Cross will also release the results of a survey that measures individual hurricane preparedness and whether Superstorm Sandy has prompted people to do more to be ready.

Patch will provide coverage of this event later Friday.
