The seventh season of the town-sponsored Movies on the Lawn program will kick off June 28 with Monsters vs. Aliens in Heckscher Park.
On Thursday, July 15 Where the Wild Things Are will play in the parking lot at Crab Meadow Beach.
On Monday August 2, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will be shown at Dix Hills Park.
On Wednesday, August 25, it's back to the drive-in at Crab Meadow Beach to see the classic Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
The inflatable blow up 'drive-in' screen used for all outdoor showings is equipped with twelve surround-sound speakers.
"This is great family entertainment. Pack up your picnic supper, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy this summer's movie line-up," said Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson who initiated the program in 2004. "With every passing year, the crowd of movie-goers multiplies so it's wise to arrive at each venue a little early. Even before the movie starts, there's fun to be had at the playgrounds or playing with the other children in attendance."
All movies begin at between 8:30 and 9 pm. It is suggested that you pack lawn chairs, including the drive-in performances, in the event the drive-in lot fills early. Overflow parking is available and bus service brings people and their belongings to the beach.
In the event of inclement weather, performances will be held indoors at Elwood Middle School Auditorium, Elwood Road and begin at 7:30 pm.
