Students Offered Financial Advice

Forum to cover budgets, responsible spending.

A May 25 Town Hall forum for high school students will cover budgetary guidelines, savings goals and responsible spending.

Councilwoman Glenda Jackson is consponsoring the youth financial forum with SafeGuard Credit Counseling, a nonprofit organization. The forum is open to students and parents and runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"It's very easy these days for our youth to be tempted by credit card companies offering a shimmering new means of purchase power," Jackson said.  "Things such as credit card APR rates, credit scores and student loans are just a few examples of the financial challenges that will be highlighted during this two-hour program."
