Pelosi Names Israel Chair of Congressional Campaign Committee

Second District representative will lead House Democratic election efforts.

U.S. Rep. Steve Israel, D-Huntington, was appointed chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Friday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Israel will play a key role in recruiting Democratic candidates for the next election, raising funds and helping incumbents keep their jobs.

The former member of the Huntington Town Board was to his sixth term representing the Second Congressional District.

Israel serves on the powerful Appropriations Committee and had been chairman of recruiting for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
