Spencer's Office, YMCA Open

Residents can warm up at Spencer's office; showers, tech charges available at Y.

The YMCA is open until 5 p.m. Friday for people to take showers and charge up their electronic devices. It wil also be open Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. til 5 p.m.

The Y service is running on a generator donated by Mike Newton of Newton Carnival, who operates the Y's annual carnival each year.

Also open is the office of Suffolk County Legislator William R. Spencer (D-Huntington). Office hours are extended and doors are open to residents looking to warm up and charge up their personal communication devices.

The office, at 15 Park Circle, Suite 209, Centerport, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  If further hours are necessary, his office will make accommodations.

Neighbors who need to use a phone, fax or copier, can do so at Spencer’s legislative office, directly next to the Centerport Fire Department.

Also open:

Whitman High School's North Gym, which is serving as a Red Cross shelter, has some charge-up ability.

Dunkin Donuts, which ran out of donuts Thursday afternoon, has been offering free wi-fi.

The Huntington Public Library is offering charge-up access. No wi-fi or internet connections.

Please add places you know of that are providing space for people to warm up or recharge their cellphones, computers, etc. Thank you.
