Spencer Re-Elected to County Legislature

Democrat elected to second term Tuesday.

Democrat William "Doc" Spencer was re-elected to the Suffolk County Legislature Tuesday. 

Spencer defeated Republican Rob Conte, a Huntington businessman and brother of the late Assemb. James Conte. With 74 of 78 election districts reporting, Spencer held a 9,203-7,416 vote lead. 

Spencer was first elected to office in 2011 and became the first physician to serve in the legislature since its inception in 1960. Spencer is chairman of the Legislature’s Health Committee.

The 18th Legislative District includes the communities of Cold Spring Harbor, Lloyd Harbor, Huntington Village, Halesite, Huntington Bay, Centerport, Northport, Asharoken and Eaton’s Neck. Its southern border includes parts of Huntington Station, Greenlawn, East Northport and Commack.
