For Senior Citizens: County Advocates Coming to Huntington

Counseling on food stamps, Medicare programs, Medicaid applications and Heating Emergency Assistance Program applications to be made available this month.

Suffolk County senior citizen advocates will be in Huntington this month to meet with interested residents with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.

Providing assistance with food stamps, Medicare savings programs, Medicaid applications and Heating Emergency Assistance Program (HEAP) applications, advocates will answer questions and make additional recommendations and referrals to those age 60 and over.

Representatives will be available at the from 9 a.m. until noon July 25 and Aug. 29 this month, and at the Paumanack Village I and II in Greenlawn Aug. 13 and Sept.17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“I urge every senior resident to take full advantage of this professional community outreach program so that they don’t miss out on the County’s network of services,” said Legis. Lou D'Amaro, in a press release last week.
