Residents Challenge Prime Avenue Repair Shop
Huntington Town Board holds public hearing on proposed service station
The took comments on a proposed three-bay service on Prime Avenue at Tuesday night's Board meeting.
Neighborhood residents came out to voice their opinion on several environmental issues, including traffic, pedestrian safety, flooding, and noise.
"It's ridiculous, we had 22 residents down here tonight, and we're all very passionate about this neighborhood," said Jim Santa, who resides two doors down from the proposed site. "This is a historic neighborhood, and we're afraid it'll devalue our homes. We'd even be happy with putting a two-family home there."

Herbert Haas, representing the applicant, Seamus Coyle, said his client had worked hard to move the property into use.
"[Coyle] obtained the property in 2004," explained Haas. "He's been trying to move the property back into use, and it's been approved by the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Planning Board, and the Historic Commission. Further, the property is zoned for industrial use."
