Huntington Town Supervisor is recuperating after a back operation last month.
Petrone, currently recovering at home, has made considerable progress in his rehabilitation after undergoing major spinal surgery Feb. 9, according to the Town Information Officer A.J. Carter.
"He is in frequent telephone and e-mail contact with and hopes to be in his office, at least on a limited basis, beginning as early as later this week," said Carter to Patch.
Petrone was last seen at a public event moving around somewhat gingerly during a at Town Hall.
In July 2010, Petrone was admitted to Huntington Hospital for back problems.
Now in his 18th consecutive year as supervisor since first being elected in 1993, lives in Commack with his wife, according to the town website.
