Nighttime Closings on the LIE

Removal of barriers at Pinelawn Road bridge will divert traffic at Exit 49.

The Long Island Expressway will be closed at Exit 49 nights from Sunday through Tuesday, the state Department of Transportation said Friday.

Workers will be removing temporary concrete barriers used to complete a $5.5 milliion repair of the Pinelawn Road bridge over the LIE.

Between 10 p.m., and 5 a.m., drivers in both directions will be diverted onto service roads. Electronic road signs will remind drivers of the closing but are asked to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
