Town Board Approves Movies on the Lawn Series

Program to continue in Huntington for ninth straight summer season.

For the ninth consecutive year, the Movies on the Lawn series has been approved by the Huntington Town Council.

Free to the public, four movies will be shown at three locations in 2012 on a large blow-up screen in full surround sound including "The Field of Dreams," "Jaws," "The Mighty Ducks" and "Dolphin Tale."

The town has retained the Auburn Moon Agency to provide related technical services for the movie presentations at a rate of $2,250 each — $9,000 for the summer season which begins with an outdoor showing June 25 at Heckscher Park.

Cost to the town for movie rentals is not to exceed $375 for "The Fields of Dreams," $425 for "Jaws," $375 for "The Mighty Ducks" and $475 for "Dolphin Tale," according to a town resolution approved last week at a regular Town Board meeting.

Movies generally begin between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Specific movie show dates have yet to be released. Check with the town website for updates.

Movie dates and locations:

  • June 25 at Heckscher Park
  • July 26 at Crab Meadow Beach
  • August 6 at Dix Hills Park
  • August 23 at Crab Meadow Beach
