Mayor, Trustees Face Opposition in Lloyd Harbor Race

June 21 village election to decide three trustee, mayor positions.

Eight Lloyd Harbor candidates will be running for four positions in the village election set for June 21.

Longtime Mayor Leland Hairr, of the Quality of Life Party, will be running against challenger George Schwertl of the Lloyd Harbor Families Party. Hairr has served since 1999.

Current board trustees and Quality of Life Party candidates Leland Deane, Jean Thatcher and Hilary Rolih are facing opposition from Sandra Bianco, Danielle Sulger and Kieran McGowan, all Families Party candidates.

Trustee candidates with the most votes in the June 21 election will serve 4-year terms.

The village board is composed of the mayor and six trustees who serve staggered terms. Seats for trustees Ralph Alfenito, William Burdo and Matthew Strunk are not up for re-election this year.

The board meets the third Monday of each month, except in January, February, and August. 

Polls will be open on Election Day in Lloyd Harbor from noon until 9 p.m. at the Village Hall.
