Lupinacci Claims Primary Victory

Republican beats Democratic opponent in Working Families Party test.

Chad Lupinacci, the Republican, Conservative, and Independence Party candidate for the State Assembly, 10th District, beat Joe Dujmic, his Democratic rival, in the Working Families Party primary Thursday night.

He claimed the lline by way of a write-in vote.

 Lupinacci said, “I am delighted to represent the Working Families Party in the general election on November 6, 2012.  The Working Families Party represents the middle class values that were instilled upon me by my family. I am committed to working tirelessly to advance their interests upon my election. I pledge to fight to make Long Island a more affordable place to raise a family and to reduce the crime that disrupts the lives of so many families in Huntington Station.”

Lupinacci, a trustee on the South Huntington school board, is lifelong resident of South Huntington and a 1997 graduate of Walt Whitman High School. He is a full-time professor at Farmingdale State College and an adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s College and Hofstra University, where he received his B.A. in 2001(summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa), his J.D. from the Hofstra University School of Law, and his M.B.A. from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business.

Dujmic, meanwhile, announced Friday morning that he'd won the endorsement of the Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees (AME).
Daniel P. Farrell, president of AME, said, "The AME Executive Board and Political Action Committee believe that you demonstrated some very comprehensive ideas in your quest for this office. Therefore you have earned AME's endorsement on behalf of our 8,500 active and retired members."

The 10th Assembly District includes Cold Spring Harbor, Dix Hills, Greenlawn, Huntington, Huntington Station, Lloyd Harbor, Melville, South Huntington and West Hills in  Huntington as well as part of Farmingdale in the Town of Babylon.

The seat is open because incumbent Republican James Conte decided not to seek re-election because of illness.
