Town Board member Mark Cuthbertson urges residents to apply.

The town is reminding Huntington residents over the age of 65 to apply for a possible senior tax exemption on Dec. 2012 tax bills.

The first, the Enhanced STAR school tax exemption, is a state-funded exemption for homeowners, according to a town release.

The requirements are: Applicants must be 65 years of age by Dec. 31, 2012 (except husband and wife or sibling co-owners; only one needs to be 65); 2010 income cannot exceed $79,050 (federal adjusted gross less taxable IRA distributions); and applicants will need to file with the Town Assessor’s Office by March 1, 2012, according to the town.
