Huntington Fire Department Bond Passes

Water, fire commissioners chosen around Huntington.

Voters in the Huntington Fire District approved a $4.5-million bond issue Tuesday that will allow the department to renovate and add training space.

The bond passed with about two-thirds of the 100 votes cast, the department said.

Ed Erickson, a fire commissioner who was re-election, said the department needs to upgrade its communications system and move a generator from the basement. "We have a shallow water table," he said, and the generator has to be moved to higher ground should the waters rise in a storm.
