Huntington Bay Tables Fee Change Proposal

Proposal is met with mostly non-favorable reaction by board trustees.

Picking up where they left off last month, the Board of Trustees again discussed the possibility charging residents higher fees but the idea gained little momentum and was tabled for an unspecified date.

At village hall Monday, Mayor Herb Morrow said the approved budget is based on the current fee system, so the possibility of a fee hike should be considered toward the end of the fiscal year, if at all.

"If our permit fee basic is out of line maybe we should consider that as we get toward next budget year," said Morrow. "I'm not sure I'm ready to make the leap and charging engineering fees and attorney fees."

Village attorney Mara S. Manin named other villages which charge higher fees and suggested that Huntington Bay do the same.

"I feel like we are losing a lot of money and we have a very tight budget," said Manin, in favor of charging residents for court reporter fees which are now charged to the village.

Board Trustee Don Rave said charging transcription fees "could add insult to injury" for residents.

Trustee John McCusker was not present at the meeting.
