Flag Day Ceremony at Elks Lodge

Huntington Elks Lodge No. 1565 will host its annual Flag Day Ceremony and Flag Retirement Ceremony along with State Assemblyman Jim Conte, R-Huntington Station, and the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts of America on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The festivities will begin with a dedication ceremony of the Pergola, designed and built by Eagle Scouts Zack and Sean Kulsziski, of Troop 200 BSA in Elwood. The Flag Day Ceremony will then take place under the pergola in the Lorraine Martin Memorial Garden at the rear of the Elks Lodge, located at 195 Main Street in Huntington.

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag, which officially occurred with the passing of a resolution on June 14, 1777 by the Second Continental Congress. This Flag Day and Retirement Ceremony will ensure that worn and damaged American flags receive proper retirement and disposal. Residents and their families are encouraged to attend the ceremony.
