County Warns Against Beach Bathing
High bacterial count possible because of heavy rains.
The Suffolk County Health Department issued an advisory Wednesday against bathing at 47 beaches, including several in Huntington.
The advisory warns against a possible high bacterial counts, exceeding state limits, resulting from Tuesday's heavy rains.
The advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m., Thursday, unless sampling indicates elevated bacterial numbers persisting beyond the 24-hr period.
