County Puts Startups, Investors Together

Tech companies and others invited to Wednesday session at Paramount.

The Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency is hosting a meetup at the Paramount on Wednesday.

The plan is to connect start-up businesses with investors and government officials, in an event billed as "Connect to Capital, Connect to IDA Companies and Connect to Government."

Expected at the event are County Executive Steve Bellone, IDA Executive Director Anthony Manetta, Deputy County Executive of Economic Development Joanne Minieri, Huntington Supervisor Frank Petrone, Mark Lesko from Accelerate Long Island, Venture Capitalist Investors David Calone, Andrew Hazen, Mark Fasciano, the SBA's regional director Walter Oden and a host of groups including the LI Angels, LISTnet, COMETS, Empire State Development Corporation and LIFT.

 Also on scene will be local tech companies in Huntington that are part of the IDA's Boost Program, including Jeff Leventhal from Work Market, Ryan Thompson of CooCoo and George Kafkarkou from VLI North America.

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. The first hour is open to venture capitalists, IDA clients and start-ups formed in the last five years in technology, bio/life sciences, energy, green, product development and high tech manufacturing. The second hour, starting at 7 p.m., is open to the general business community.

A BOLT BUS will provide a free shuttle from the Huntington train station for a 5:45 p.m. pick up to the Paramount.
