Candidates Forum Set for Oct. 29

Congressional, state candidates invited to participate.

The League of Women Voters of Huntington, and Leadership Huntington are sponsoring a Meet The Candidates Night on Oct. 29.

All candidates on the ballot running for the 3rd Congressional District, State Senate 2nd and 5th Districts, and state Assembly 10th and 12th Districts, have been invited.

"The Meet the Candidates Night gives the audience a real  opportunity to see and hear from the candidates and become educated and informed voters," said Judie Gornstein of the League of Women Voters. "Too often today, people are getting misinformation or disinformation."

Each will give opening remarks, answer questions posed by league and submitted by audience on index cards and read by the moderator, and then give closing statements. The candidates are not given the topics or questions that they will be asked.

Rep. Andrew Raia, R-Northport,  is running unopposed so he won't participate on the panel because the forum doesn't allow for an "empty chair" setup. But he will be available afterwards.
