Library Voters Approve Levy Increases; 2 Board Trustees Re-Elected

South Huntington and Huntington libraries hold elections Tuesday.

Voters in two library districts approved tax levy increases Tuesday for 2012-13 while re-electing two incumbents to library boards.

district residents re-elected Paul Ehrlic to the five-member board of trustees while approving a 2 percent tax levy increase for 2012-13.

The budget, which passed by a vote of 530 to 241, calls for the collection of an additional $166,527 from district residents this year, bringing the total levy amount to $8,492,897.

Ehrlic, a retired software engineer and Whitman High School graduate, defeated Jairo Sanin 482-324, according to posted library results

By a vote of 348 to 84 in South Huntington, the collection of $95,048 was approved by voters, bringing the total levy amount to $5,653,503, according to the 2012-13 operating budget — a 1.71 percent increase from last year.

Board Trustee John Eberhardt, running unopposed, was re-elected to a five-year term, according to the library website.

Board trustees in both districts serve five-year terms.
