Blighted Houses: 3 Forest Court

Town says it can take down home but a buyer may be in wings.

Neighbors have been trying to do something about an empty, derelict home at 3 Forest Court for years.

Recently, one neighbor said Tuesday, a bobcat was spotted on the property, leading the Town of Huntington to eradicate several feet of weeds. The property remains mosquito ridden.

The town said this week that it will hold off on the action because there is a buyer interested in taking over the property. Town spokesman AJ Carter said that although the town has a ruling that allows it to take action, it will wait a few weeks more to see what happens with the purchase plan.
