2 Programs Examine Political Landscape

League of Women Voters sponsors documentary, lecture this week.

Two events sponsored by the League of Women Voters this week take a closer look at politics.

The documentary Patriocracy, showing Monday night at the Cinema Arts Centre, examines the influence of media on public opinion, with an emphasis on the American political environment. A panel discussion will follow. The documentary shows at 7p.m. The LWV  chapters of Huntington, Smithtown, and East Nassau are sponsors.

On Thursday, James Coll, an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College and a New York City detective, will speak on “Electing the President,” an overview of the development of the modern presidency. Topics for both historic and contemporary analysis will include the process and the chief executive's relationship with Congress, the Supreme Court, the press, and the people. The League of Women Voters of Huntington and the Harborfields Public Library with support from the NY Council of the Humanities, are sponsors. The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Harborfields Public Library.
