Michael Baldwin II arrived at his Huntington home Thursday night to find his one-month-old son and the babysitter unresponsive. Both were later pronounced dead at Huntington Hospital.
Baldwin found Teresa Coffey slumped on top of the baby. Suffolk Police say she may have accidentally asphyxiated him.
Police have not yet determined a cause of death but said at a Friday afternoon that they are investigating to rule out negligence.
"There is no reason to believe this is anything other than a terrible accident at this point in time," said Suffolk Police Lt. Det. Gerard Pelkofsky.
