DOJ: Man Had 24 Pounds of Coke, $3M in Cash

DEA agents seize Huntington Station man, drugs, money.

A Huntington Station man was arrested  and accused of stashing 24 pounds of cocaine and $3 million in cash in his apartment, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday.

A federal affidavit said that Adrian Bonilla, 34, was arrested Monday night after he left his Shelley Place apartment.

He was arraigned Tuesday on charges of intent to distribute cocaine.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents had searched outside the suspect's apartment July 12, the department said, and found a trash bag, plastic baggies containing a white powder confirmed to be cocaine and other suspicious items. After Bonilla left the apartment Monday night, he was stopped and agents said they found about 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of cocaine on him.

After the arrest, agents searched his second-floor apartment and found the $3 million in six lockboxes hidden behind new drywall, along with the cocaine and cocaine base in various places.

Bonilla is an American citizen, the Department of Justice said.
