Updated: Lloyd Harbor Horse Breeder Convicted of 33 Counts of Animal Cruelty

The trial of Ernie Paragallo, a prominent thoroughbred breeder and owner from Lloyd Harbor, culminated Wednesday in Catskill, N.Y. Judge George J. Pulver Jr. presided over the non-jury trial.

Ernie Paragallo, who lives in Lloyd Harbor, was convicted Wednesday, March 10 of 33 animal cruelty counts. Sentencing was scheduled for May 18 at 9:30 a.m. in Greene County Court.  Read the article from the Catskill's Daily Mail.


The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA helped rescue the almost 200 horses from Paragallo's farm in Climax, NY. They dedicated a page to the case. According to the site, dozens of the horses had infections and parasites, and virtually all were thin to emaciated.

Another Chance 4 Horses also assisted with the horse's rescues.
