Town Condemns House After Car Smashes Through It

Home declared unsafe for human habitation by Huntington officials.

A Huntington home has been condemned by Town officials after a woman crashed her Mercedes into the house early Monday.

On Wednesday, deep tire tracks and police tape remain at the home, located at 200 Southdown Rd. A Town of Huntington sign posted on the front door has deemed the buidling unsafe for human habitation.

Police say at the Southdown Road t-intersection. The vehicle traveled between several trees, across the lawn and through the front porch before smashing into the home. The car eventually came to a stop in the backyard at 4:05 a.m., according to police.

A driveway fence, shrubs and the middle section of the home were destroyed from the accident. 

A 90-year-old woman and her caretaker were inside the home at the time of the accident but were not injured, according to police. No one was inside the home Wednesday.

Anderson, 21, was charged with DWI and later arraigned at the Fourth Precinct.
