State Police Chase Huntington Man on Southern State Parkway

Shakir Smith arrested for allegedly speeding near North Massapequa-Farmingdale border.

A Huntington man on a motorcycle sped past troopers on the Southern State Parkway early Monday Morning, state police said.

Shakir Smith, 32, was spotted speeding east towards Farmingdale near the Bethpage Parkway exit in North Massapequa at 1:37 a.m.

He allegedly refused to stop and kept going towards Babylon with officers in pursuit. The motorcyclist got off in Babylon to drop of his passenger and then sped off again, according to cops.

Officers caught up with the passenger who gave them Smith's identity.  When troopers arrived at his home, Smith allegedly fled on foot. 

But he was nabbed a short time later by troopers and police dogs.

Smith was charged with fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle 3rd, resisting arrest, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation and several traffic violations.
