Police Quell Huntington Station Disturbance

Cops swarm the scene as two large groups flee.

Nearly two dozen Suffolk County police officers from the 2nd Precinct descended on the corner of Academy Place and Church Street in Huntington Station at about 3 p.m. today after a patrol officer spotted two large groups of individuals gathered at the scene.

A 19-year-old male from Hempstead was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment after he threatened an individual, according to a police spokesperson.

According to a witness, the group of youths were yelling at each other before police arrived.

One local resident, who did not want to be named in fear of retaliation, said if the police had not arrived, the two groups would have probably started fighting.

Most of the group scattered before backup officers arrived, according to the witness.
