Police Prevent Threatened Suicide

3 keep woman from jumping from roof.

 Suffolk County police reported saving a woman from commiting suicide Thursday night.

 They gave this account:

Police received a 911 call at East 4th Street and Fairground Avenue in Huntington Station where a woman was on a second-story roof  threatening to jump.

Officer Heriberto Lugo stayed on the ground and distracted the woman while officers Charles Messina and Michael Tilley made their way into the home. Once inside the house, the officers went onto the roof, formed a human chain and grabbed the woman and brought her to safety. The incident occurred about 6 p.m.

The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
