Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run

Man dies after driver flees New York Avenue accident.

A hit-and-run driver killed a man early Sunday morning on New York Avenue in Huntington Station.

Suffolk County police said the man was struck about 3 a.m. just north of the East 12th Street intersection. The driver was southbound on New York Avenue.  Police said the vehicle, described as full-sized dark colored sedan, fled the scene.

The man, who who not identified, pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
