Pedestrian Killed Crossing Rt.110
Ex-Maplewood teacher was struck by a vehicle at Old Country Road intersection.
A woman crossing Route 110 in Melville was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday night.
Samantha Pinataro, a former student teacher and paraprofessional at Maplewood Intermediate School,was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 11:23 p.m.
She and a former colleague at Maplewood were crossing from in front of the Seven-11 store when she was hit, Suffolk County police said. The Melville Fire Department also responded to the accident.

Pinataro was a 1999 graduate of Whitman High School.
