Officers Save Man Choking on Food at Huntington Restaurant

Dix Hills man is saved at Sur Argentinian Steakhouse Saturday night, police say.

A Dix Hills man who was choking on his food and slipped into cardiac arrest at a Huntington restaurant Saturday was rescued by two Suffolk County police officers, authorities said.

Police officer David Weymouth responded to a 911 call at Sur Argentinian Steakhouse, at 314 New York Ave., after receiving a report of a man choking on food at approximately 7:45 p.m., police said.

As Weymouth attempted the Heimlich maneuver, the victim went into cardiac arrest, lost consciousness and began getting shocked by his internal defibrillator. Officer Pete O’Brien responded to assist Weymouth and initiated chest compressions on the man. The food was subsequently dislodged from the man’s airway and he regained consciousness, police said.
