No Injuries in Dix Hills Attic Fire

A Dix Hills family is safe after a fire broke out in their Hunting Hill Drive Home early Monday morning, authorities said.

The fire was reported just after midnight. The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to the call, making "an aggressive interior attack and quickly had the blaze knocked-down," according to a news release.

Fifty Dix Hills volunteer firefighters and rescue personnel were at the scene with five engines, three ambulances, rehab, paramedic and first responder units.

The fire was contained to the attic, with smoke and water damage to the entire house. The occupants safely evacuated and there were no injuries reported.

The Greenlawn Fire Department assisted with a rapid intervention team, while the Huntington Manor and Deer Park Fire Departments provided an engine and ambulance on standby at Dix Hills Fire Department headquarters. Suffolk fire-rescue coordinators were also dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

The incident was under the command of Chief Bill Stio. with operations handled by First Assistant Chief Robert Fling, and Third Assistant Chief Alan Berkowitz.

Officials say the fire appears electrical in origin, and is under investigation by the Huntington town fire marshal.
