Man Injured in Huntington Station Fire

A man was injured after a house caught fire in Huntington Station Saturday, authorities said. 

The Huntington Manor Fire Department responded a fire on Foxwood Drive South at about 1:45 p.m. 

When firefighters arrived, they found  the rear entrance area of the home and attic ablaze. Firefighters battled the flames and heat.

The Huntington and Melville fire departments assisted at the scene, while Greenlawn firefighters provided a standby engine at Huntington Manor's headquarters.

With eight trucks, 50 firefighters using eight trucks had the fire under control within 45 minutes, under the command of First Assistant Chief Frank McQuade and operations by Third Assistant Chief Jon Hoffmann. Suffolk Fire Rescue Coordinators were also dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

The man suffered burns to his hands and feet and head lacerations, and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.

The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Huntington Town Fire Marshal are investigating.
