Man Holds Up Capital One Bank in Village

Robber flees after getting cash.

The Capital Bank on New York Avenue was held up Monday night, with the robber escaping with an unknown amount of money.

Suffolk police said a man entered the bank at 250 New York Ave., about 5:30 p.m., approached a teller, pulled a weapon and demanded money. The teller handed over the cash and the man fled south on New York Avenue.

He is described as a white male with a thin to medium build, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall to 5 feet 11 inches tall.  He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, gloves, and a cloth mask.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will remain confidential.

No one hurt, that's a good thing, there's about a dozen different cameras in that bank, I think with today's technology, even with a mask, the computers will put together a face, profile, and any image they need, then a week or so from now, GOTCHA ! Why would you rob a bank, a federally insured back, duh ! The Feds don't give up. And with the amount of banks robbed on long island, no one has ever gotten away with it ! Im glad no one got hurt, the only thing the guy did right. I'm sure that will be taken into consideration when he goes before the judge.

Because desperate people do desperate things. Also, they all hear about the people robbing banks all over the place on LI, but there is rarely a follow up story (and especially not a big story, you have to look for it) on the apprehension. So the casual news follower probably believes this is something they can get away with.

...and by casual news follower I mean the ignoramuses that think robbing a bank is something they need to do.

It's funny because they only get what the teller has in his/her top drawer, which is a minimal amount of money..
