A Huntington man bit a Suffolk County police officer on her arm at a Huntington Town meeting Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Now, Daniel Karpen, 66, is charged with disorderly conduct, assault and other charges for an incident that took place at Huntington Town Hall at 100 Main Street in Huntington at about 6:40 p.m.

Suffolk County Police said that before entering a meeting room at Huntington Town Hall, Karpen was asked by a public safety official to search his backpack.

Karpen refused and was asked to step outside, police said. Instead, he ran into a meeting room where people were meeting to discuss the Elwood senior housing development.

Police officers who were at Town Hall attempted to handcuff Karpen, who had caused a disturbance, according to police. While officers were trying to detain him, Karpen bit a female officer on her arm.

The officer was transported to Huntington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Karpen was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest and second-degree assault.

He is being held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.

Your name calling says more about who you are and less about Daniel.

@Pat Kelly: Maybe the Town Fool has taken up spraying for mosquitoes with that 30 year old smoker/fogger. After all, the towns don't anymore.
