Man Arrested for Stealing from Church Donation Box

St. Patrick's Church in Huntington robbed Wednesday.

Suffolk County Police arrested a Huntington man who stole money from a church donation box in Huntington on March 6 around 10 a.m.

An employee at the Church of St. Patrick, located at 400 West Main St., observed a man taking cash from a candle donation box at 10:36 a.m. Second Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call regarding the theft and, a short time later, located the man, George Kanganis, on West Main Street in Huntington.

Kanganis, 47, of 320 Nassau Road, Huntington, was charged with Petit Larceny and Possession of Burglar Tools. He is being held at the Second Precinct pending his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip Thursday.
