Man Arrested for August Shooting in Huntington Station

Suffolk County police arrested man in Wyandanch three weeks after shooting.

Suffolk County police arrested Tarodney Sanders, 34, on Wednesday and charged him with attempted murder in the second degree for the shooting of Ariel Perez in Huntington Station on Aug. 4.

Second Squad detectives, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Sanders outside of 282 Parkway Blvd. in Wyandanch, at 6:10 a.m. on Wednesday. He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.

The Aug. 4 shooting injured two people standing in front of 11A Church St. in Huntington Station at approximately 2 a.m., The 21-year-old Perez was struck several times and Bonnie McCoy, 23, who was sitting on the front stoop of the building, was also struck by one round.

A criminal charge is only an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
