Man Accused of Skimming ATM

Police say man targeted two banks.

A man leaving court on charges of skimming an ATM was re-arrested Wednesday on new charges involving a Huntington Station bank.

Suffolk County Police  arrested Marian Serban, a Romanian citizen, after an appearance in First District Court in Central Islip. He was at the courthouse on charges of skimming an Astoria Federal Savings bank ATM in Kings Park. He had been  arrested March 13.

On Wednesday, he was charged with installing a skimming device and a pinhole video camera March 10 at the Astoria Federal Savings bank at 320 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station.

Using these devices, Serban stole approximately $9,700 from 13 different victims and obtained financial information for 25 different accounts.

He was charged with third-degree grand larceny, two counts of second-degree identity theft and third-degree identity theft.

Serban, 43, resides in Romania and has been known to stay at various hotels when in the United States and he has previously traveled to Miami, Florida and Las Vegas, Nev. 

Serban is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court Thursday.
