Man Accused of Halesite Burglary

Suffolk police arrest Huntington Station resident.

A Huntington Station man was arrested Tuesday and accused of burglarizing a home in Halesite.

Suffolk County police gave this account:

Officers from the Second Precinct/Neighborhood Enforcement/Special Operations Team saw Matthew Schramm burglarize a home on Bay Avenue. When police approached him, he tried to escape in his Honda Civic but struck an unmarked police car after he was surrounded. He then tried to flee on foot but police seized him. He was taken to Huntington Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Schramm, of 42 Nichols Pl., was charged with second-degree burglary and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned later.
