Lynbrook Barber Shop Owner Falls From Roof [Update]

Eddie's Barber Shop owner rushed to hospital Friday morning.

The owner of Eddie's Barber shop in Lynbrook suffered a serious fall late Friday morning and was rushed to an area hospital.

The shop owner, later identified as John Lecuit, was on the roof of his store, located at 121 Broadway, making repairs when he fell shortly before 11 a.m., according to an eyewitness.

He was conscious but bleeding profusely from his head when Lynbrook Police and volunteer firefighters from Tally-Ho Company arrived at the scene. He was then rushed to a local hospital in a Lynbrook ambulance.

Patch learned Saturday morning that Lecuit suffered a skull fracture and was listed in critical condition with more surgeries to follow.

According to an article published in the Herald in August 2012, Lecuit has been cutting hair at the barber shop his father, Eddie, opened up 63 years ago, since 1954, shortly after he graduated from Lynbrook High School. He and his wife, Betty, also a Lynbrook alum, live in Lindenhurst, where they raised their three kids.

This is a developing story. Patch will update as new information becomes available.

As a classmate of John (LHS '54), I wish him a speedy recovery. Obviously, your customers need you back behind the chair.
