Lloyd Harbor Man Hurt in New Hampshire Crash

Driver of 1967 Porsche strikes tree head on.

A Lloyd Harbor man was seriously injured when his car struck a tree in New Hampshire, state police said Sunday.

George Gates, 60, was driving a 1967 Porsche 911 in Dummer  but lost control of the car on a curve on Route 16, north of Pontook Dam, police said.

His car scraped a telephone pole before striking a tree head on.

Police said  Gates suffered serious head injuries and had to be cut out of the vehicle by Milan EMS and Milan Fire Department.  He was taken by Med-Flight to Maine Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Because of the age of the car, it had only a lap belt, which Gates was wearing, police said. The crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
