Update: LIRR in Service After Being Suspended

Pedestrian struck, killed on track in Syosset.

The Long Island Railroad reports suspended Port Jefferson Branch service in both directions between Hicksville and Huntington due to an unauthorized person on the tracks struck by a train.

Buses have been ordered to accommodate customers, according to the LIRR. Estimated time is 15 minutes. 

Estimated time of service being restored will be 90 to 120 minutes.

Eastbound

The 11:52 a.m. train from Penn due Huntington at 12:55 p.m., is being held west of Syosset due to unauthorized person on the tracks.

The 12:26 p.m train from Penn due Huntington at 1:28 p.m. will terminate at Hicksville. Train will then run as an extra westbound passenger train to accommodate customers.

The 12:51 p.m. train from Penn due Huntington at 1:55 p.m. is terminating at Hicksville due to an unauthorized person on the tracks. Train will then run as a westbound extra to accommodate customers heading towards Penn.

Westbound

The 12:36 p.m. train from Huntington due Penn at 1:42 p.m. is being held at Syosset due to an unauthorized person on the tracks.

UDPATE at 3:26 p.m.: The Port Jefferson Branch service continues to be suspended in both directions between Hicksville and Huntington due to an unauthorized person on the tracks struck by a train. Shuttle bus service are being provided between Hicksville and Huntington. Estimated time of service being restored will approximately 4 p.m.

UPDATE at 4:41 p.m.: Service has resumed on the Port Jefferson line.
