Crash Kills Huntington Station Woman
Deadly crash on Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury kills 1, injures 2.
A Huntington Station woman was killed and two other people were injured when a car that was clipped veered over the median, striking another vehicle head-on, according to police.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. in Woodbury on Jericho Turnpike, about a half mile east of Crossways Park Drive. Police shut down the street for about a mile down, re-directing traffic to alternative routes.
One vehicle in the right lane heading westbound on Jericho Turnpike was switching lanes when it struck a Buick. The Buick then crossed over the median and struck a Toyota SUV that was traveling eastbound head on, according to police.

“It appears to be just a tragic accident,” said Det. Sgt. Anthony Repalone.
The passenger in the Buick – an 83-year-old Huntington Station woman – hit her head and was pronounced dead at a local hospital sometime later, according to police.

Police said the driver of the Toyota SUV, a 57 year-old woman, and the driver of the Buick, an elderly man, have non-life threatening injuries.
The accident closed off Jericho Turnpike, starting at Crosswoods Drive West all the way down about a mile east. The traffic and re-directing of cars caused problems and confusion for both police and commuters.
