Huntington Station Teenager Helps Save Boy From Drowning

Combined effort saves life of 11-year-old in Huntington Station.

A teenager helped save an 11-year-old boy from drowning today in a Huntington Station residential pool.

Swimming in the pool located on Clinton Avenue, Jalen Sairr, 16, of Huntington Station reacted quickly to help save the boy who went underwater and did not resurface at 12:37 p.m., according to Suffolk County police.

Sair pulled the 11-year-old out of the water before emergency responders arrived to find the boy unconscious and unresponsive, according to police. Officers from the Second Precinct, members of the Huntington Fire Department and Huntington Community First Aid Squad administered first aid on the boy poolside.

The boy, who was breathing but unresponsive, was transported by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad to to Huntington Hospital and will be transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital for observation, according to police.
