Huntington Station Worker Arrested After Crowbar Attack In Bayport

Victim sustains serious head injuries while leaving bar after performing.

An "undomiciled" man who works in Huntington Station was arrested for assaulting a musician in Bayport Sunday, according to police.

Jalaluddin Khojandi, 25, was charged with first degree assault after striking Michael Hargreaves, 39, with a crowbar at approximately 3:45 a.m. outside the Grey Horse Tavern, according to a release by Suffolk County police.

Hargreaves was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue with serious head injuries.

According to police, Khojandi fled the scene in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria before officers noticed the Ford parked in front of Khojandi’s place of employment, located at 659 East Jericho Turnpike, at approximately 4 p.m. As they were impounding the Ford, officers saw Khojandi drive by in another vehicle and apprehended him at 4:30 p.m.

Khojandi is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Aug. 1, according to police.
